2025 Scholarship for Community Service and the Next Generation of Leaders

 

Praise Presbyterian Church (Somerset, NJ), dedicated to embodying the Gospel of Christ beyond boundaries, is pleased to announce the launch of its 2025 Scholarship Program. This initiative aims to support the local community and nurture the next generation of Christian leaders. We invite applications for the following scholarship categories.

 

I. Community Service Scholarship

 

1. Praise Unity Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support the next generation of students from underrepresented ethnic groups and female students at Franklin High School who are facing financial challenges as they prepare for college.

 

   Amount/Number of Awards: $1,000 (5 recipient)

 

 

2. Book Club Scholarship

This scholarship aims to support Book Clubs and other educational activities for underprivileged students in the Franklin township area elementary, middle schools, which are operated by community volunteers.

 

   a. Franklin Middle School: $5,000

      [Parks Sports Line Scholarship]

 

   b. MacAfee Elementary School: $10,200

      [Joy System Scholarship]

           

   c. Hillcrest Elementary School: $5,000

      [US Black Belt Scholarship]

 

   d. Pine Grove School: $5,000

 

 

3. Unsung Hero Scholars

  [Allen M. Park Memorial Scholarship]

This scholarship is established to honor and support the children of Franklin Township police officers and firefighters who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

 

   Amount/Number of Awards: $10,000

           

 

II. Next Generation Leadership Scholarship

 

1. Scholarship for Christian Education Research

  [Suk Youn Suh Memorial Scholarship]

This scholarship supports research in Christian education among Korean American theological students in North America. It aims to encourage scholarly pursuits in Christian education and contribute to the development of next-generation education within North American Korean immigrant churches.

 

   a. Amount/Number of Awards: $5,000 (1 recipient)

   b. Eligibility Requirements:

. Baptized member of a church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PCUSA) or a denomination recognized by PCUSA.

. Master’s degree required. Full-time doctoral student in Christian education or religious education at a fully accredited theological seminary or divinity school approved by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

   c. Application Materials:

. Research or Dissertation Abstract

. Two Letters of Recommendation (One must be from the academic advisor)

2. Scholarship for Theological Students

   [Clouse J. Lee Memorial Scholarship / Susan Memorial Scholarship]

This scholarship is intended to support Korean American theological students in North America, fostering the development of future pastors and theologians.

 

   a. Amount/Number of Awards: $2,000 (4 recipients)

   b. Eligibility Requirements:

. Baptized member of a church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PCUSA) or a denomination recognized by PCUSA.

. Undergraduate degree required. Full-time graduate school program student at a fully accredited theological seminary or divinity school approved by ATS.

   c. Application Materials:

. Two Letters of Recommendation (One must be from the academic advisor)

3. Scholarship for Children of Missionaries and Pastors Serving Small/Pioneering Immigrant Churches

   [CEI Office Scholarship / Primo Jewelry Scholarship]

This scholarship aims to support the educational pursuits of children of pastors serving small or pioneering immigrant churches, as well as children of missionaries.

 

   a. Amount/Number of Awards: $2,000 (4 recipients)

   b. Eligibility Requirements:

. Baptized member of a church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PCUSA) or a denomination recognized by PCUSA.

. Full-time undergraduate student (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year) at a fully accredited 2-year junior college, 4-year college or university.

   c. Application Materials:

. Completed Application Form

. Official Transcript

. Personal Statement (up to 2 pages)

. Two Letters of Recommendation (One must be from the senior pastor of the current attending church)

. [for children of pastors] Recent church bulletins (last 4 weeks) from the parent’s church

. [for children of missionaries] Missionary report letters from parent’s mission site

4. Scholarship for Sunday School Volunteers at Small or Medium-sized Churches

This scholarship supports Christian young adults who have volunteered as Sunday School teachers for at least two years at small or medium-sized churches, helping them continue their educational journey.

 

   a. Amount/Number of Awards: $1,000 (6 recipients)

   b. Eligibility Requirements:

. Baptized member of a church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) (PCUSA) or a denomination recognized by PCUSA.

. Full-time undergraduate student (or have been admitted to such a program for the upcoming academic year) at a fully accredited 2-year junior college, 4-year college or university.

   c. Application Materials:

. Two Letters of Recommendation (One must be from the senior pastor of the current attending church)

5. G2G-KODIA Scholarship

This scholarship is established to support the G2G-KODIA ministry, which is dedicated to Christian education for the next generation.

 

   Amount/Number of Awards: $5,000
